In 2018, WHSmith proudly announced the acquisition of InMotion, the largest airport-based technology retailer in North America. InMotion is an established brand, operating over 120 stores, with over 20 years experience in airport electricals retail. As well as a presence in 62 US airports, we now have a global footprint, including stores in the UK, Spain and Australia.

The Bookshop by WHSmith is tailor-made and designed for book lovers. Our bookshops provide a warm and inviting premium environment. Customers can rely on our knowledgeable book gurus who are on hand to help with recommendations and excellent customer service at any one of our 11 standalone bookshops in air and rail locations across the UK.

Smith’s Family Kitchen

Last year, we launched our first own-brand food-to-go range in the UK, Smith’s Family Kitchen, to grow the quality and range of our food offer. The customer response has been positive, and Smith’s Family Kitchen continues to attract widespread industry recognition and awards. As we look ahead, we will evolve our offer further to support even more key mission moments, such as breakfast, health-conscious options, and hot food-to-go, alongside developing more premium, plant-based and global flavour profiles. These range extensions will improve choice and relevance for a wider audience across UK airports, rail and hospitals.

WHSmith fresh

WHSmith fresh+

Fresh, tasty food and friendly service is our philosophy. Fresh+ offers nutritious and healthy food choices to hospital visitors, staff and patients in approximately 20 hospitals across Australia.
We serve upwards of 30,000 customers every week, making more than 15,000 coffees and offering a wide selection of fresh food, made on site daily.

The Coffee House

The Coffee House

Coffee House encompasses both retail and food service expertise and has offered quality coffee for consumers on the go since 2015. Building upon our existing coffee shop expertise in stores across the UK and Australia, our café concept, Coffee House, has a premium look and feel offering great value for money.
This brand offers flexibility as a standalone concept or an in-store proposition with an extensive range of delicious foods and snacks, cakes and pastries and Fairtrade organic tea and coffee.

Long Shot

Launched in 2017, Long Shot is the latest addition to our Food and Beverage portfolio.
At Long Shot, we are very passionate about our coffee. We work with our suppliers to source the best coffee beans from around the world changing our single origin every week, working tirelessly to ensure that we are abreast of industry trends to give the customer exactly what they want and what they expect of any leading coffee retailer.

Our partnerships 

We seek to actively manage our space in stores and have developed a number of key partnerships with retail brands to maximise our product and service offer to customers. Working with these partnered brands allows us to respond to growth opportunities and the changing needs of our customers, delivering evolution to our formats and ranges. 

WHSmith has partnered with Well Pharmacy, the third largest pharmacy chain in the UK, delivering a ‘pharmacy within a shop’ concept at a number of our UK WHSmith Travel stores.

With on-site pharmacists, in selected stores, this enables time-pressed passengers to get health and wellbeing advice on the go, and allows them to buy from a range of pharmacy-only medicines.

Well Pharmacy

WHSmith has been a franchise partner of M&S since 2012.

We currently operate 21 M&S Simply Food stores across the UK and we have 22 M&S implants within our WHSmith stores, which are predominantly in hospitals.

We continue to work with M&S as a long-standing franchise partner offering a range of high-quality products, from food options for now and later to bakery items and fresh flowers.

Marks and Spencer

WHSmith has partnered with Post Office Limited since 2006.

WHSmith Post Office branches offer the same range of services as directly managed Post Offices and our staff receive regular product and compliance training. Additional benefits for our customers include seven day opening and longer trading hours.

WHSmith partner with Costa Coffee, the nation’s favourite coffee shop brand, within the healthcare sector in the UK. We operate franchise units in Blackburn Hospital, Colchester Hospital and Churchill Hospital, Oxford.

Costa Coffee deliver great coffee with pride, elevating the coffee experience to make it fun and accessible for everyone. Our units offer a welcome space to relax and enjoy a drink, as well as hot and cold food options, and complement WHSmith’s suite of brands and formats so that we can best meet the needs of our NHS partners and customers in a variety of different sized hospitals across the country.
